Holding Pattern...

I got an update on Malaena's measurements this week. As of December 29, our princess weighed 11.8 pounds and was 22.4 inches. She had gained nearly 3 pounds in one month. She's definitely related to my side of the family!!!

I wanted to take the time to explain what is going on with our case for those reading not familiar with Guatemalan adoptions. We entered PGN (like our Attorney General's Office) on December 11. We entered as a safety measure not knowing what was going to happen after 12/31/07, as we knew we were lacking one document that we HAD to have to get approval. Well, the document came on 12/21, but we were unable to just slip it in our file. SO, we received a KICK-OUT(KO) on 1/11. There has been a new obstacle that was put in place on 1/1/08 saying we had to be registered with the Central Authority(CA). The only problem is the Central Authority didn't exist. Well, it is now formed BUT very unorganized!!! We are now waiting for the proof that we are registered and we are told the CA will being issuing the documents called "constancias" on Monday. We are praying specifically that this is the case so we can enter into PGN. Once back into PGN, there will be another wait, but we are praying for no more KO's! Our attorney has an awesome track-record with PGN, so we are hoping it will be evident with our case!

Though our case is in a holding pattern, we know that Malaena-Sloan is safe and sound. It is 75 degrees in Guatemala today, and 25 degrees in Jackson with five inches of snow. All we can hold to is that today we are one day closer to bringing her home!!!! It will be here before we know it!

I have been following your blog from guatadopt. Your daughter is beautiful and we are also in a holding pattern waiting for CA.

I just wanted you to know that you've been tagged. It helps take your mind off of the waiting for at least a little bit. Check out my blog post from Feb. 2 for details at familiagiancola.blogspot.com
