Our First Information for 2008

What an emotional day! The JCICS (our U.S. Immigration) issued a statement today that PGN cases would be halted unless approved to continue being processed. No one knows what "approved" cases are. This PGN won't process any other cases until they have been registered with the new "Central Authority" of Guatemala. Guess what?! That agency does NOT exist. We hope and pray that the JCICS will put pressure on the Guatemala government to find a band-aid to allow cases to continue while the "Central Authority" is being developed. I have been very upset knowing that our daughter is sitting in Guatemala without us and our care! We believe in our hearts and have every indication from the Guatemalan government and our government that we will get Malaena-Sloan home. It is just going to take a little longer than we expected! It's hard for me not to be a little sad as I am totally ready to bond with my daughter and love and care for her every minute of every day! I know this is a bump-in-the-road and our girl is totally worth the wait. We know God is in charge of our adoption, so He will resolve this in HIS time! Please keep all in-process adoptions in your prayers!

You and all the families and children caught in this red tape and delayed process are in our prayers.

We are praying for you guys big time, and as your friend who cares deeply for you I am going to ask that people not post their ideas/estimates about when Malaena will come home....It is easy to write things that seem like a good idea, even helpful at the time, but in reality for the mom that longs for her daughter, it is just not helpful. I know from my own personal experience how tough the wait is.
There are so many ideas out there about what is happening, and Cheri, you are working with a fantastic agency, so I am sure they are the ones best equipped to keep you up to date on your individual case.
We believe in a higher power and the absolute fact that God is in control of bringing this child home...
Not to mention your agency's record in timely PGN outs is pretty amazing.
So again, as a protective friend to the Harris family....Please think before you give your estimates of when little Malaena will be home. This is a confusing enough time for every parent in the waiting process.
Our very very best to you and we love you dearly-
Chantelle

Sig...Chantelle's experience is much more recent than yours. Her daughter just came home a couple of months ago. Her daughter was ten-and-a-half months old. She waited and yearned for her daughter like I am. Biggest difference is we have the best adoption agency out there and our attorney has a record like no other. She does get children home between 4-6 months! At this point everyone is speculating timelines, and some may need to hear them. NOT ME! NO ONE, BUT GOD KNOWS ANYTHING FOR SURE!! I will post as we get information from our stateside attorney.
